Thanks Darren, I just saw that this afternoon too. I'm actually pretty
pleased with it (at least in part because it's not so exuberant that a
reader might wonder who's paying him) and I think the criticisms are
generally good. I think there's a little depth missing -- some of the
mechanisms he doesn't understand the buzz over are things that subtley
interact in actual play (like the cluster/character feedback loop) and lead
me to believe maybe he didn't get a chance to play it much. Or, possibly,
that it didn't happen for him, in which case it really is a failure of the
game.
As for the font, well, he's not actually the first to complain (though the
first to diss Helvetica -- how dare he?!) and it's a good complaint I think.
