[Diaspora] Space Combat Demo

So, I have finished reading the space combat demo (damn I need to play
this!) and I am seeing a simple representation for 3d movement,
electronic warfare, beam and torpedo attacks, and I can't help but
thinking that this is just perfectly ideal for a Gundam Wing style
mech battle in space. You would have to keep in mind that the Gundams
are all single pilot vessels, and possibly change the Heat stress
boxes to a representation of pilot stress instead (the Gundams have
super powerful engines that when pushed to the limit actually damage
the pilot a little bit and being able to withstand this punishment is
something that separates the best from the rest), though by my reading
it would be a completely superficial change, the rules could work the
same. The damage control phase doesn't seem to happen in the show
either.
Anyone else think this could be a very workable idea? When I get the
book I may have to do some serious thinking about this.
