[Diaspora] Is there an elegant way to add characters once a campaign has started?

Well, as you may recollect my group is currently pretty stoked about
having run the cluster creation setting (so stoked that one of them
did his own blog post about it here:

http://gamerchris.com/2010/02/12/designing-the-fathers-children-cluster-for-diaspora.aspx

and we're really, really pushing to get the actual campaign up and
running. Herein lies my question! We have another interested party,
who might not be able to join us until his schedule clears up later in
the spring, possibly even all the way to summer. Now if it takes
until summer break, we'll probably just start a new campaign so he
gets to have the fun of cluster creation too. But if he winds up
joining us a few sessions in, how do we incorporate his character into
the neat, inclusive mechanical framework of Diaspora-style character
creation? Is this an issue anyone's actually handled yet, and if so
how'd you do it? If not, wild speculations and half-baked theories on
how to do this are equally welcome, as that's all I've got to go on at
the moment anyway!

I'm getting a weird deja vu asking this question, but using gmail to
search my collected Diaspora mailing list questions isn't helping. If
this has been handled already, please point me in that direction and
sorry for the mess....

Thanks,
Ken
