Sounds right to me.

Sounds in retrospect like you could have had a "Not my Quarrel" zone that they could move to and be safe. Though a Concession makes sense to me too.

Check my Azure Cluster writeups (2 and 3 have social combats). I know that the last one used Assets ("We have deep pockets") and Awareness (learning something about the opposition).
