[Diaspora] A very brief play report!

Yeah, I just remember thinking how cool it was to be able to attack the thug using your Assets skill... Fate is just awesome.

Ooops! Didn't mean to steal your thunder, Chris.  And you're right, I did use an Assets roll on that thug.  I thought straight Charm didn't sound right, but couldn't remember why!  Thanks for filling in the places where I blanked - and your writeup was great!

Also, I'd like to repeat my appreciation for the pimped-out version of the Cluster Gazetteer you did.  It looks sharp as heck!

I actually just published my version of our session today on my blog, which you can check out here!  And just in case you want to look at our cluster a little more, you can find that here.

I remembered things a little differently than Kenny did in a few spots (I thought he made an Assets roll, amplified by his Charm, to make the composure attack in his little skirmish), but it's pretty much all the same.

And I'll echo Kenny's summary about how truly awesome Diaspora really is.  Both cluster creation and character generation were amazingly fun on their own accord, and now we get to actually play the freaking game!  I'm very hopeful that a rotating referee/caller will work out well, and we even threw around a few ideas the other night about how it might work.

I ordered the softcover, and Lulu delivered it in record time, so I've already been checking out all that we did wrong and getting ready for our next shot at it.

Now I just need to find more time to play...

Dear Ken,

Thanks so much for this. It[s always fun to read AP reports, but this has some gems.

Profession: Corpse Broker is exactly the sort of thing that we designed that skill to do. Just great. And you are right that brawling is a good knife-fighter skill, though close combat can also be used -- knives behave differently depending on how they are used, and that flexibility is what we were trying to model (i.e. how a knife is not like a sword, and still works with the point-buy design system so as not to lose out). "Routinely underestimated" is a great aspect, and would be really fun to use in play.

It's great that you got to play -- the sharing of reffing was something that we discovered when we first played SotC; if that contagious quality is in diaspora, that's high praise indeed.  So thanks!

Toph
