My group and I did a short play-test of the combat system over the weekend.
We generated characters with three skills (5, 4,and 3) and a bunch of
low-level thugs and went at it. (It was a boarding action scenario.)

I really like the combat system. It goes fast and has a good feel to it. I
forgot to do "compels" so the fate-point economy somewhat broke down but it
still worked OK.

We discovered that "Agility" or "MicroG" is your friend! The characters that
didn't take that really got chewed up. However, having someone with
first-aid is a real plus.

So far: two thumbs up! Great game. Next week is when we really get into
it; we are rolling up characters for the main RPG game.

(There was a lot of discussion of the social-combat system (although we
didn't try that). Some people observed that it would work well for a lot of
other abstract combats. For instance, mental combat or cyberspace combat.
Something to think about.)
