HI guys,
I stumbled upon Diaspora after checking out SotFF of yours (and on
that one while searching FATE branches out there).
I first wanted to print out SotFF and read it, but once I saw the
follow-up - Diaspora - being talked about as a harder SF, I
immediately went on your Wiki and downloaded the PDF (which I am in
the middle of reading at home now ;) ).
Thx for that! It really is my cup of coffee!
I participated (if only a little) on the creation of Starblazer
Adventures (mainly as a proofreader, unfortunately no tester as I dont
have a group around) and was intrigued, because I like Sci-Fi and
Space Operas (Star Trek etc.). Starblazer is also on my list for
printing out and reading (as I got the PDF from Chris Birch ;) ), but
it is indeed HUGE. And additionaly, I like harder Sci-Fi more (and
quite dont like the huge SotC-style Stunt list and such thing). I like
FATE at its best and easiest/simplest, with no overly-complicated
extensions, additions, (no-stunts!!!!) and such.
Therefore Diaspora immediately hit the right spot, because it reminds
me a bit of Burning Empires with their World Burning (thought they
have indeed many more options, which are of course tied to the
Infection Mechanics). I have not yet read the Ship Creation, but look
forward to it also.
And now to my question :)
I could assist with keeping a PDF of the content of the Diaspora Wiki
up-to-date, say each week. This would mean that I would review changes
for the past week, change the appropriate parts of the PDF, render it
and upload it somewhere. As the latest existing one is from December,
there is a lot of new information out there as I saw. As the layout in
your PDF is essentialy quite straightforward, that would not be a big
job.
I regularly use the Scribus DTP package for a fan-made RPG magazine in
my local language, so I would have to learn nothing new there. I would
just have to have all the images used on the Wiki (perhaps in a better
resolution) and off I could go!
What do you say?
